This year's Open House features Mark Kennedy Shriver, a native of Washington, D.C. and who grew up in Montgomery County. He will talk about his father, Sargent Shriver, and about growing up in the Kennedy family (his mother is Eunice Kennedy Shriver).

Mr. Shriver is Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Save the Children, an organization that helps children in 120 countries including the United States, and the author of a recent memoir about his father -- A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver. His presentation, “A Good Man: Faith, Hope and Love in Action,” will focus on their relationship. Mr. Shriver will autograph copies of his book, which will be on sale at the Open House.

Sargent Shriver was the first director of the Peace Corps and subsequently the Office of Economic Opportunity, was instrumental in the founding of VISTA and Head Start, served as Ambassador to France, and was the 1972 Democratic Vice Presidential candidate.

In addition to Mark Shriver’s talk, we will celebrate our current Members and Friends of CC@ H, and honor and thank our dedicated Volunteers and Donors.

Each registrant will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the door prize of one night's stay at the Loews Madison Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. including a dinner for two at Rural Society, located at the  Loews Madison Hotel and just opened to rave reviews. Registrants must be available to win.

If you are unable to attend, please consider becoming a Member, Friend of CC@ H, Donor, or Community Supporter. Thank you.
