Pepe Romero is one of the few living legends in the classical guitar world. He has been honored by kings, heads of state, and major institutions, and has devoted over 50 years on the concert stage to communicating the richness and beauty of the classical guitar. He has, indeed, become an ambassador of classical music, and, correspondingly, of the classical guitar.
Pepe Romero holds honorary doctorates in music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the University of Victoria, British Columbia and received the highest recognition in Spain, "Premio Andalucía de la Música," for his contribution to the arts. King Juan Carlos I of Spain has knighted Pepe and his brothers into the Order of "Isabel la Católica” in recognition of their cultural contributions.
He will be teaching advanced students who have been pre-selected by the International Conservatory of Music (ICM). Prior to this interactive session with young guitarists on Sunday, this popular Spanish musician will be performing at Westmoreland Congregational Church on Saturday evening.
This event is co-sponsored by The International Conservatory of Music, Chevy Chase At Home, and Chevy Chase Village.
