David Roll will speak about his latest work, "George Marshall: Defender of the Republic". Thomas E. Ricks of The New York Times writes, "I’ve read several biographies of Marshall, but I think Roll’s may be the best of the bunch. Some historians write about combat well, others are stronger on politics and policy, but Roll . . . handles both areas deftly.” The Wall Street Journal: "For a life that has been subjected to so much spilled ink, Mr. Roll has managed to encapsulate George C. Marshall’s inner voice better than any previous work." And General David Petraeus notes: “A hugely significant book…David Roll provides a portrait of Marshall that is far more penetrating and nuanced than past biographies.”
Co-hosted with Connie Morella Library on Zoom. Free and open to the public. Note that the event will be closed by the library to latecomers at 10:05 am so be sure to log in early.
David Roll is a former Steptoe & Johnson partner and founder of Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, which provides pro bono legal services to social entrepreneurs around the world. This is his third non-fiction historical book focusing on major players in U. S. history.
