Hear from John Mendez, Executive Director of Bethesda Cares. In 2020, Bethesda Cares set a new county record for achieving street-to-home housing placement on behalf of individuals experiencing chronic street homelessness. Hear about the challenges and vulnerabilities for persons who are street homeless and what it takes to provide solutions to the most difficult cases. Founded in 1988, Bethesda Cares is a community outreach program for people living unsheltered, and for people in homes who are at severe risk of losing them. Don't be fooled by the name: Bethesda Cares works throughout Montgomery County to place people in permanent, supportive housing; to ease life on the street during that process; and to protect low-income tenants in crisis from eviction and possible homelessness. Hosted by Bethesda Metro Area Village and the Connie Morella Library. For security reasons, this program session will be locked 10 minutes after it begins. Please log in promptly.
