About this event
In hundreds of years, despite their differences, the US and Russia have not been at war with each other. Noted journalist and Russia expert Marvin Kalb will place the ongoing Ukraine war in an historical context. Why is it so difficult for the US and Russia to reach a Ukraine agreement? What factors are holding up a courageous resolution to the conflict? Are there personal as well as political issues that stand in the way of a possible solution? Kalb, an award-winning reporter who spent years reporting from Moscow for CBS and NBC news, will examine the unique issues involved in this diplomatic standstill.
Marvin Kalb is a prolific international correspondent with a long history in broadcast news, including the popular Kalb Report, and the author of 18 books on Russia, the media, and foreign policy. The recipient of numerous journalism awards, Kalb served for many years as chief diplomatic correspondent and host of "Meet the Press" on NBC. Founder of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School, Kalb is an expert on media ethics and responsibility. His most recent publication is "A Different Russia: Khrushchev and Kennedy on a Collision Course." In addition, he writes commentaries for The Contrarian on Substack.
