About this event

Where does a story begin? Join us for a fascinating conversation with author Jane DeMouy, who will share how a discovery in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley inspired her novel, The Mistress of Collingwood. In this engaging presentation, “From Idea to Story,” Jane will take us behind the scenes and talk about how she first found the kernel of the story and what motivated her to bring it to life. She will introduce us to some of the book's major characters—without giving away any plot points, making this program enjoyable for both those who have already read the book and those encountering it for the first time. Following her presentation, Jane will welcome questions and comments.

Jane DeMouy grew up in Falls Church, Virginia, just a short drive from the Shenandoah Valley—a place she came to know and love for its beauty, history, and opportunities for outdoor adventure. Jane and her late husband, Lou, began exploring the rich history of the Shenandoah Valley during weekends spent near Winchester. It was there that she discovered the kernel of an idea that eventually grew into The Mistress of Collingwood. Please join us for an engaging afternoon of history, storytelling, and conversation.
